Dosho Saikawa Roshi is superior general of the Soto School of Zen for South America since May 2005.
He was born in Nagasaki, Japan. He became a Theravada monk in Thailand, and later on his return to Japan, he entered the Soto Zen tradition. After receiving dharma transmission, he continued his practice in the United States assisting Maetzumi Roshi at the Zen Center de Los Angeles and also collaborated in the creation of the Zen Mountain Monastery in New York State. On his return to Japan, he was the official teacher at the Soto Zen school temple Soji-ji in Yokohama.
He is now the Abbot of Hosenji Temple in Yamagata, Japan, and the Templo Busshinji, in Sao Paulo, Brasil.
